A house with a past. A home with a future.
Sometimes a new chapter begins in a place that seems to have been waiting for just that moment. For us, that place is Bruvno – at the foot of Velebit, in the beautiful landscapes of Lika.
2007 – A special place takes shape
The story of our house begins in 2007. These first photographs show how the owner at the time had it built: with solid stone walls, high-quality materials and great care.
It was intended as a weekend retreat. In reality, however, it was rarely used and never lived in permanently. For more than 15 years, the house stood largely empty.
The quality of its construction endured. When we discovered the house, we were surprised by how well it had been preserved. In many places, it still felt almost new.
2026 – Our new beginning in Bruvno
We bought the house in 2026. That marked the beginning of our chapter in this special place – and Grey Rock Ranch began to take shape.
We thoroughly renovated, cleared and repaired the house. Throughout the work, we wanted to preserve the character that had captivated us from the start: the natural stone, the solid construction and its connection with the surrounding landscape.
Together, so much becomes possible
Friends we have made here in Croatia lent us their support. With their practical help, the work outdoors moved forward, step by step.
We cleared overgrowth from the extensive pastures and karst terrain, opened up areas that had become overgrown and made the access track to the house passable again. Little by little, the spacious grounds and old stone walls came back into view.
These photographs tell the story of that work – and of the people who helped us find our feet here.
Plećaši 77 – Our new address
Today, our new home also has an official address:Plećaši 77 in Bruvno.
For us, it is much more than a house number. It is the place where we want to build our life with our animals and continue developing Grey Rock Ranch.
There is still plenty ahead of us. Here, we want to take you along, share our progress and continue telling the story of this place.
